Managing Partner

He founded and leads the firm, managing a team of legal practitioners and carrying responsibility for its work and its day-to-day operation. The practice is weighted towards corporate and commercial law: negotiating and drafting agreements for foreign and local companies, advising prospective foreign investors on labour, banking and investment legislation, and ensuring compliance with the Companies Act, the Labour Act, the Income Tax Act and related statutes.

He drafts joint venture and licence agreements, leases and memorandums of understanding, prepares legal opinions on evolving legislation, and resolves disputes through arbitration, negotiation, mediation and conciliation where those routes will serve the client better than a trial.

Group Legal and Compliance Manager

Spiritage Zimbabwe Telecommunications (Private) Limited, group of companies

He spearheaded the establishment of the legal, secretariat and compliance division at group level, working alongside the Group Legal Advisor, and gave the business and procurement teams the contracting, legal and regulatory support they needed to operate safely. He developed the policies that carried the group's corporate governance standards, including board charters and schedules of delegated authority, and advised the company and its subsidiaries on the statutes and regulations governing the telecommunications sector.

He managed the group's litigation, represented the company in court where necessary and instructed external practitioners on pleadings. He structured, prepared and negotiated contracts, built contract templates for every line of business, and resolved complex contract and tender matters while keeping the relationships with customers and vendors intact. He conducted due diligence on deals and transactions, served as company secretary for the group's subsidiaries, ran their board committees and filed statutory returns with the Registrar of Companies.

Senior Associate

Messrs. Thondhlanga and Associates, Legal Practitioners

He drafted criminal litigation documents including defence outlines, synopses of defence evidence and interlocutory applications, and represented clients at trial in the Magistrates Court, the High Court and the Supreme Court of Zimbabwe. He led a team of junior associates across a mixed criminal and civil litigation caseload.

He led the litigation department across criminal, corporate and civil matters in the Magistrates Court, the High Court, the Labour Court and the Supreme Court, trained the professional assistants under him and organised the department's work. He drafted civil and criminal pleadings, summonses, pleas and appeals, and handled commercial and conveyancing documents including title deeds, bonds and company documents.

He wrote legal opinions, drafted contracts of employment and codes of conduct, represented clients in negotiations to settle labour disputes, and prosecuted and defended claims before the labour courts, tribunals and superior courts.

He worked in corporate and commercial law practice and litigation, negotiating and drafting agreements for foreign and local companies and advising prospective foreign investors on labour, banking and investment legislation. He acted in the formation of companies and their compliance with the Companies Act, the Labour Act and the Income Tax Act, and drafted joint venture and licence agreements, leases and memorandums of understanding.

He conducted legal research and issued opinions as the law changed, used arbitration, negotiation, mediation and conciliation to close disputes, and ran civil litigation from pleadings through representation in the Magistrates and High Courts to civil appeals argued in the Supreme Court.

Zimbabwe Public Service Commission

He handled labour matters for the Government of Zimbabwe, advising on disciplinary proceedings involving civil servants across ministries, representing the Commission in labour dispute resolution and giving legal guidance in Commission meetings under the direction of the Legal Advisor.

He drafted bail applications and defence outlines for criminal trials, assisted in civil trials in the Magistrates Court and the High Court, and represented clients in labour disputes and negotiations. He handled estate administration, including the sequestration of estates and the liquidation of companies, and conducted the legal research behind the opinions the firm issued.
